Prokicker.com Preseason All-Americans released

Harrison Butker, last year’s National Player of the Year, headlines the Ray Guy Prokicker.com Academy Preseason High School All-Americans that were announced today.

Butker, who has committed to Georgia Tech, was the first-team Preseason All-America kicker and kickoff specialist and a second-team combo player. He will be a senior at Westminster High School in the Atlanta area where he is coming off an incredible season.

Butker made 16 of 17 field goals with only miss coming from 59 yards. Butker connected on a 51-yard field goal, had touchbacks on 47 of 59 kickoffs (80 percent) and also punted for a 39.5 average on 33 punts. Four of them were more than 50 yards with six downed inside the opponent’s 20.

Jonathan King, a class of 2013 recruit out of Farragut High School in Tennessee, was the first-team punter and combo player. King was a second-team kicker and third-team kickoff specialist.
Players were selected after much vetting from the Prokicker.com staff, who watched and coached the players during camps this summer. Prokicker.com staged 43 camps from coast to coast and the professional instructors watched the players closely.

Last winter, Prokicker.com released its inaugural High School All-Americans that included many of the nation’s best punters, kickers and long-snapping prospects. There were four All-America categories — punting, kicking, long-snapping and kickoff specialist. The kickoff specialist, which is highly sought after by college recruiters, was believed to be the first of its kind in receiving All-America postseason recognition.

The Preseason All-America Team has also added a combo category for players who both punt and placekick.
“We’re proud of these young men who we have set apart as All-America candidates,” said Prokicker.com founder and camp director Rick Sang. “There’s no question these are some of the best players in America. Our staff has watched them closely, many of them during multiple camps.”

Six underclassmen from last year’s All-America list were named to the Preseason All-America Team. They included Sean Covington (punter-kicker), Mitchell Ludwig (punter), Houston Ray (kicker), Ike Powell (long-snapper) and Butker (punter-kicker).

Several newcomers burst onto the scene after having impressive camp performances this summer, including King and kickoff specialist Thomas Farst, who shared first-team in that category with Butker.
Reece Everett was a second-team selection in three categories — kicker, combo and kickoff specialist.
Seven states are represented on the list: Tennessee, Kentucky, Florida, Virginia, Georgia, Ohio and Mississippi.
